Minha Yang (b. 1975) is an educator and media artist based in Seoul, KOREA. The foundation of Minha Yang\u2019s work spans from the incorporation of art and science, vitality of machines, coevolution, algorithm, to artificial intelligence. Contradicting to the abstruseness of algorithm and the complexity of the subject he deals with, the artist deliberately flattens the visual expression and attempts to conceal the technology behind it. This attitude comes down to the artist\u2019s stance that the work should be a sentimental piece of art, disguising the AI and algorithm, which allows the audience to completely immerse oneself in the artwork. Starting off with the 2nd Seoul International Media Art Biennale in 2002, Minha Yang has been invited to join numerous exhibitions, including MAAP: Multimedia Art Asia Pacific(2002), Spain ARCO Biennale Intermediae (2007), The Prague Contemporary Art Festival(2007), Centre Des Arts Enghien-Les-Bains(2010), Incheon International Digital Art Festival(2009, 2010), The Creators\u2019 Project (2011, 2012), the inauguration exhibition of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul(2013), Les Arts D\u00e9coratifs (2015), FILE Festival, Brazil(2015), ELEKTRA, Canada (2016), Ars Electronica (2018), Daejeon Biennale(2020), Canada Future Voyage(2023), and Kiaf Special Exhibition(2024). He has been the recipient of a number of awards such as the Asia Digital Art Award (2001~2004), Canon Award from Canon Digital Creators Contest (2001~2002), and Today\u2019s Young Artist Prize in the art category bestowed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2014. Yang received a BFA and MFA in visual design from Seoul National University.
